CHAD BERTRAND
PASTOR
Chad is a native Houstonian who has served as a pastor for over 10 years, and has been a part of mission work on five continents. He has recently served as the Coordinator of the Texas Baptists Church Planting Center at Tallowood Baptist Church. He attended Howard Payne University for his undergrad, and achieved both his Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry at Truett Seminary. Chad and his wife Lori have four children: David, Ryen, Sawyer, and Della. He enjoys spending time with his family, running, and a good cup of coffee.
MATT RUZICKA
YOUNG ADULT PASTOR/WORSHIP LEADER
After serving for 9 years as Youth Pastor at South Park, Matt officially stepped into a new role as the Young Adults Pastor, and continues as the Worship Leader on Sunday mornings. His goals are to reach the often lost and de-churched group of 18 to 29-year-olds through intentional worship, discipleship, and campus ministry at Alvin Community College.
Matt and his wife Allie are expecting their first child in 2022. They love enjoying movies together, tiny house living, and quality coffee. They're both thrilled about the new chapter in their lives and ministry.
LAUREN GOLDEN
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR
Lauren has been a believer since she was 7 years old. She and her family joined South Park in 2014 and began serving in South Park Kids right away. She felt God's leading to step into this role at the start of 2022, after her previous career in nursing. Her husband, Travis, teaches a young adult group on Sunday mornings, and their daughters Lindsey, Madeline, and Lillian, are part of South Park Kids each week. She loves iced coffee, playing dominoes, and going on vacation. She hopes to see God impact the lives of kids and their families through our Sunday morning and Wednesday night kids' ministries.
KYLE THOMPSON
YOUTH PASTOR
After spending his high school years in South Park Youth, he began a career as a paramedic while serving in various youth ministry roles. Kyle is now back at South Park serving as our Youth Pastor. Kyle has been happily married to his high school sweetheart, Kathryn, for 2 years now, and they're both loving "parents" to their dog Nova and Korra. He enjoys woodworking and playing guitar.
CULLENE HOBBS
CHOIR DIRECTOR
Cullene and her family first came to South Park in 1984. She was saved at the age of six and has been involved in her church and music ministry in some capacity her entire life. She began playing the piano in church in 7th grade and loves bringing the joy of the Lord to worship services. Her husband of over four decades, Larry, is a retired Houston Firefighter. They have two wonderful grown sons and two beautiful grandchildren.
AIMEE FONTENOT
FINANCE SECRETARY
Aimee and her family joined South Park in 2007. Aimee has worked on several church committees, and now serves in TeamKID on Wednesday nights and in the Nursery on Sundays. She has been a Christian since early childhood and joined the Baptist Church in 1998. Aimee is an active volunteer in South Park Kids. Her husband, Mike, is a Deacon and has served on many committees in the church. Michael and Noah are members of the Young Adults and volunteer with South Park Kids on Sundays. Aimee's wish is to serve SPBC and the Kingdom wherever God calls.
DENISE TAYLOR
SECRETARY
Denise has been at South Park since 2009. Previously, she worked as a Teacher’s Aide in Alvin ISD for 16 yrs. She was raised in a Christian home and committed her life to Christ at the age of eight. Denise volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and as a Nursery worker at the church where she grew up. She has been married to her husband Richard for 34 years, who is currently on the Building and Grounds Committee. They have two grown sons, Ricky and Tyler, as well as three grandchildren.
