NextGen Pastor

Purpose: The NextGen Pastor is responsible to oversee the Youth Ministry (Grades 6-12) and Young Adult Ministry (18-29 years old), including the Baptist Student Ministries (BSM) at Alvin College (AC). The NextGen Pastor will recruit and train leaders who will disciple the next generation of the church through God’s love, teach them God’s Word, and provide fellowship with God’s people – so they may follow Jesus and grow in discipleship.  

Duties and Responsibilities - Youth: 
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate workers for the Youth Ministry (6th-12th Grade) 
  • Work cooperatively with all staff and volunteers
  • Develop an age-appropriate teaching plan for the youth ministry
  • Coordinate and lead Sunday Morning Bible Study and Wednesday night gathering for Youth
  • Plan events including time of fellowship, service, summer camp and a youth retreat
  • Build appropriate relationships with youth and be there for them for prayer, support, and discipleship
  • Maintain regular communication with parents of youth
Duties and Responsibilities - Young Adult: 
  • Coordinate Tuesday night young adult including meal and Bible Study
  • Coordinate volunteers to lead Sunday morning Bible study classes for young adults 

  • Plan events for young adults throughout the year

  • Coordinate with Alvin College (AC) for all BSM events

  • Be present on Alvin College’s (AC) campus to reach out to students twice a month
  •  Lead and coordinate the monthly BSM gathering at Alvin College (AC) with other churches to provide lunch and speakers
  • Build appropriate relationships with young adults and be there for them for prayer, support, and discipleship
Duties and Responsibilities - Youth and Young Adult: 
  • Attending weekly Staff meetings
  • Participate in the annual budget estimating process

  • Communicate the needs of the youth and young adult programs to other staff and church leaders
  • Be available to perform all ministerial duties such as Baptism, Lord's Supper, teaching, and hospital visitation, when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor that contribute to the administration and life of the Church

Personal Qualifications: 

  • Have a personal, active, and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ
  • Be energetic, warm, and able to share the love of Jesus to youth and young adults and their families
  • Be comfortable visiting with church families
  • Be able to balance work and family
  • Be physically capable of sustained activity
Professional Qualifications: 

  • Will support and adhere to the by-laws, policies and procedures of South Park Baptist Church. 

  • Will participate in Ministry Safe Training

  • Will become CPR/First Aid certified
  • Will submit to a background check as required.

Worship Leader

South Park Baptist Church in Alvin, TX is proud to welcome a vibrant new leader onto our team to help lead our weekly worship experience. We are a congregation who spans four generations and loves to worship in a way that takes advantage of creative new songs as well as the rich tradition of hymns set to contemporary instrumentation.

The duties of the Worship Pastor entail:
  • Planning Sunday morning worship services 
  • Recruiting and working with new worship team members
  • Researching and introducing new songs
  • Rehearsing with the worship team (currently on Sunday morning)
  • Leading worship on Sunday mornings
  • Leading worship for the Tuesday night young adult gatherings
  • Leading worship for youth services on Wednesday nights
  • Overseeing the tech team 
  • Keeping up with the church’s audio/visual needs
  • Setting the slides in Pro Presenter for the Sunday Morning Service
  • Assist in planning/participating in the occasional special event at church
  • Coordinate with the choir director (the choir currently sings up to 10 times a year)
  • Coordinate with the children’s music program (they currently sing 2-3 times a year)
Other duties include:
  • Attending weekly Staff meetings
  • Participating in the annual budget process.
  • Being available to perform all ministerial duties such as Baptism, Lord’s Supper, teaching, and hospital visitation, when needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Pastor that contribute to the administration and life of the Church
